The good news it it is running now, and I can go to sleep (6 hours later!)
I think this box is going to perform extremely well tomorrow, er, today...

Sorry for the issues tonight guys, was working on a 2.6 kernel and encountered problem after problem.
The good news it it is running now, and I can go to sleep (6 hours later!)

Was a long wait but glad it's all ok, go and sleep before you drop.

That's also a load-balanced setup, so when one server freaks out due to a RAM failure, you can keep the other machine running with no more trouble than some lag from the extra hits.

In regards to the multiple servers thing - you guys should really look into setting up an InterWorx cluster. If this is the only site you're running, you should be able get that working for really no more than the cost of renting the servers with a 15 site license.
That's also a load-balanced setup, so when one server freaks out due to a RAM failure, you can keep the other machine running with no more trouble than some lag from the extra hits.
We run multiple sites The issue was that MySQL was killing the CPU... ram definitely wasn't a problem. We were going to have one machine processing MySQL exclusively and another running everything else, but our new solution is perfect. Running a Load balancing system with your proposed setup with our current bandwidth is a tad too pricey atm It's very likely that will be our next step in a year or so if the site continues to grow the way it has in the last couple of years.
