Amazing stuff coming in there, I don't even know if its worth for me competing anymore, but I'll probably just do it to keep learning anyway <_<.

Ha me too my first logo's were in that comp aswell ;), though I had been using Flash for 4 years, and you only Photoshop for 3 months.. But I had a look at your second logo ever, and it's just a HUGE step up, unlike mine.

Dunno what to say...Been using PS for 8 months now...
The most important thing is that you must love one program and stick to it, thats the only way to master it...
Nowdays I use illustrator a lot too, but I use it only to convert something I drew in PS to vector...

Ive been messing around with a lot of programs, but PS remaind my true love :), Oh yes, I love that bloody thing!!! :)

I think all i've done is make my job a whole lot harder! Good work guys.

And personally I think there is enough difference for both to stand as entrants :whoosh[1]:

lol NothingMan, I like how the swirl forms the V and the G - pretty creative

anyway, here's my newbie entry mockup - I say mockup because I actually rendered Mr. VBot here and the letters separately, so the reflections aren't accurate. Plus, I'm not supposed to be doing any image work right now anyway (yay midterms ftw -.-)

I don't really have much experience creating Web 2.0 looking logos, but I figured I might as well use my relative forte in 3D to try my hand in this comp.

So, here's my mockup...I tried to incorporate a 'simple character'. I'm thinking maybe I'll end up having VBot actually pick up a few letters. Iuno. Like I said, a mockup.

Anyway, picture:

If this was my comp I'd choose that one, it's really nice and seems to fit the whole gaming scene with pixelated text and the little robot

Very nice :P

Very nice smile.gif

I actually have Ben/darkstone to credit for the pixel text inspiration - he posted a 3d pixelated lettering early in the contest

the robot took me about 6 hours; 5 hours was from thinking of what to make it like -.-. I wanted it to be simple and stuff, so it wasn't that hard once i figured out what to create

Originally I had something different in mind :D, but I played with it for an hour and when I saw it...I just knew what to do next ;). I learned almost everything I knew by looking at some stuff and trying to recreate it. And everytime I play around I find something new.No Im not saying that I steal designs :) ...
Maybe thats why I do everything differently from tutorials <_<

Alrighties, this one is my second version...this time I got to render it in the same scene. The shadows are actually..err...makeshift-ish, i was hesitant to add a floor in C4D because it'd totally kill the alpha [although, a 'floored' version is on the way] I think the bot is a bit bright though...iuno, we'll see.

Attached File  vbot_logo.jpg   89.51KB   105 downloads

hm. I just realized that it's not version suitable for a logo because of the perspective...i'll get a change on that. sorry for spamming <_<

[edit]
Alright, i think this is more viable for a logo - rescaled everything :) Turns out adding a floor didn't hinder anything too much.
