Also the current site looks like a gaming clan site, which is a look we don't want. Not that it's a bad thing, just not the style we're looking for.

Actually, it's not... the focus of pixel2life.com is to provide you with a site that facilitates the search for tutorials guides on specific software, design and programming related categories. We want to help you learn faster and easier than just using a regular search engine. We'll do our best to make the interface pretty, but that's definitely second priority. We made the look #1 in version 1, and now we're paying for it with slow load times and CRAZY bandwidth. Let me give you an example... A certain very popular photoshop tutorial website out there goes through 350GB of bandwidth per month, yet probably has about 4 times our traffic. P2L will probably do 400GB this month! That's pretty much out of control so it's time we look ahead and focus on what's important - helping our members and visitors.correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't gfx the main part of this whole site?sorry but yall need to realize that its not always about the Gfx.
Thanks again everyone for your feedback, and as expected (If you guys remember I actually warned you from the get go) there would be some disappointed folks because of the scaling back of the interface look.
Anyhow, that hopefully answers somr of the questions regarding the look of the site, and we're sure that trading graphics for functionality was the smart decision to make for all parties.

So you know how to use charting macros in word? Or the correct way in auto setting the heading fields to automatically generate a table of contents (Functions I use on a weekly basis at work btw)? if you do, congrats, but many don't. Every category you see in the new release has been requested btw.I do know M$ word... If there is a tut in there that will help me hugely, I will be amazed. Considering its just Word.

I'm not trying to diss it in any way. I know that there are a lot of people that need help with simple programs so they can get a footing in computers. I think its great that you guys are helping out... I was just curious what exactly it would hold for tuts, so maybe I could post a couple. So you know how to use charting macros in word? if your looking for designs that are totally compicated and fantastic on a huge tutorial database like this..im sorry to say but your not that smart..it takes long to load the page with this much tutorials on the database/server and adding a lot of images and stuff..that would be hell..its best to have a simple thing with the least amount to effects as possible without making it look crappy..IMO the new version its awesome..great job you guys
@ the people saying the new categories are dumb..
your saying that no one uses some of the new categories..is it no one or just no you..i have one thing to say..STOP BEING SELF CENTERED..like people always used to say to me..the world doesnt revolve around you..
if you try and make a tutorial database like this one with what you think will make it skyrocket..by all means go ahead..we'll just see how long it will last before people complain about the pages loading too slow and there not being enough categories..
*sidenote* one of the longest things im have written

I am very impressed at the design and I think that the whole idea of cutting down on images, etc, was very sensible. For some people who are pros at making eye-bursting website layouts with tons of images, attempting to make a cleaner, smoother layout is sometimes very hard. The end result can look tacky.
But you guys...You totally own..
The expansion of categories is excellent and I completely disagree with the comments about Word and Excel being stupid additions. The amount of people that use these applications is incredible, and if someone wants help with a certain feature, guess which direction I will point them in?
When I become a rich businessman (when - not if), I'll be donating a large sum of money to all the P2L crew!
Thanks for all your hard work.
