From EV1Servers (data center) in Houston:
We have 36-48 hours of fuel on site and guaranteed contracts to have fuel delivered in 2 hours.
All of our fiber providers have similar backup systems to us in place, and we provide the power for their equipment on our end.
We do have a drainage canal next to DC2. Even during Tropical Storm Allison which dumped over 36" of rain in this area of town, there was never any danger of DC2 flooding and the water receeded in a matter of hours. The generators and HVAC equipment is built up approx. 4' above grade.
Please remember that this is not a New Orleans type situation, we are well above sea level and though there may be some street flooding as a result of a lot of rain, we see thunderstorm type events every year that dump more rain then the normal 4-6 inches that occur with a hurricane.
We have implemented our emergency storm plans and have an additional backup generator for DC1 on the way, it should be wired up and in place by Wednesday afternoon, we also have procured plenty of plywood and supplies to board up windows should the storm indeed come this way. We will also pickup food and water supplies for the DC crews tomorrow should they have to stay at the DC for an extended amount of time.
**update**

As you all may know by now EV1Servers have been making the necessary preparations anticipating the worst of Rita making landfall in Galveston which is approx. 100 miles south of Houston.
We are taking every precaution necessary to ensure that should we get the worst of Rita that all service remains uninterrupted.
We will be working on a very limited staff over the next few days, we will keep as many EV1Servers support team, dc team people available as possible during this time. As posted by HeadSurfer and Jeff (VP of Operations) we have done and will continue to do everything we can to ensure that there will be no interruption in your service.
We truly appreciate everyones patience and understanding during this time.

If you're anywhere near Housten, there are emergency fuel trucks along the side of the freeway who will fill you up so you can get out of thereCan't find gas... Can't find Hotel...
I have friends in Austin who, as of an hour ago, aren't answering their phone so I wish them the best.
